Arrive before it starts In the 5 days in Christchurch, we were able to recover from the travel stress and process the jet lag. We owe this to our dear hosts, Nicole and Andreas, who supported us in all matters. The accommodation was totally charming. And soon our children also made friends with their daughter Anouk. The best thing was, of course, that we were allowed to use their playground in the backyard. If any of you should come to Christchurch, our best recommendation is https://www.airbnb.de/rooms/22413337?s=51 After enough energy was refueled, we went on an exploration tour through the largest city on the South Island. To the delight of the children, we discovered the probably largest playground in the southern hemisphere!
From the city to the peninsula Picking up the campervan was an adventure in itself. Sigi took the bus and shuttle to the pick-up station for an hour and thought he had all the necessary documents with him. The plan was for him to then pick up the rest of the family with the camper van. Too bad he forgot the most important document of all in the accommodation. Without the original driver's license, the International Driver's License is worthless! So Janine quickly packed all the suitcases and children and also got on the bus... In the afternoon, everything was finally together. The suitcases were loaded, the children were strapped in, and the journey began towards Banks Peninsula.
