Hello everyone,
After staying at the campsite at Lake Tekapo for a night (mainly for a hot shower and WiFi), there is an update earlier than expected. Maybe I'll even manage to post my last tour of Mount Sunday tomorrow. That depends a little on whether I sneak back into the campsite after I've parked the car.
Before I headed south, I watched the sunrise at New Brighton Beach on my last day in Christchurch. And guys, I just have to say that it was a spectacular experience and I got some really great pictures!
The entire mountain range can be seen in the background and it was a truly beautiful backdrop with all kinds of different colors.
Then the sun slowly rose over the horizon and the clouds that hung over the sea that morning made the whole thing seem almost a little dramatic.
After about 30 minutes the spectacle was over and I drove back to the campsite. Since I woke up so early and even managed the tour without an alarm clock, I was so lazy that I just threw on a pair of jeans and a thick jacket over my pajamas. This had the ultimate advantage that when I got to the campsite I could just take off my trousers and jacket and then crawl back into my (still slightly warm) bed.
I stayed another day because it was Marc's (one of the guys who helped me a lot) birthday and he invited us over for dinner. I made a huge tub of garlic butter for the BBQ in the classic family tradition and Marc braised lamb in the slow cooker for 11 hours. The two girls also bought vegan chocolate cake and after this super delicious meal we all just rolled into bed in the evening.
The next day we headed towards the middle of the island and Lake Clearwater. The next post is a real highlight, especially for the nerds among you.
Stay tuned and until the next post,
Your Britta
