Today we set off for Loch Ness, which is about 35 minutes away. Specifically, we went to the Nessie village of Drumnadrochit.
Fortunately, we arrived relatively early because more and more tourists flooded into the small village every hour.
Unfortunately, the path to Loch Ness was neither mystical nor eye-catching. Just following the main road...
Well, we did see Loch Ness and of course Nessie too, but unfortunately the pictures with her/him didn't turn out well. So we made the outlines a little more distinctive.
We also saw Urquhart Castle, but we didn't visit it...
Unfortunately, there was no path along the shore to return. 'Unless you jump over a fence...'
We didn't do that. So we went back to the Nessie village, checked out the tourist shops (although one had really nice stuff) and had a little snack.
It's really crazy how a completely ordinary lake attracts so many people, just because of a phantom.
Then we got in the car and got out of the hustle and bustle. Actually, we wanted to go to Loch Glass, but somehow the navigation had other plans. ↗️➡️↘️⬇️↙️↪️↔️🔃⛔️🤷🤷♀️
Anyway, we ended up in the town of Garve, a little somewhere else... But you can hike almost anywhere here. So we parked at the train station and, thanks to Google Maps, found a nice path towards Black Water Falls. It was a really lucky find. Especially the walk back along the river was very beautiful.
After arriving back at our accommodation in Dingwall, we had a great dinner, drinks, and ended the day at 'The Mallard' pub in the train station.
Tomorrow we'll go to Loch Glass.✊️✊️
Stay tuned!
