For once, the weather forecasts are correct. It has already rained heavily, with lightning and thunder during the night.
In the morning it was dark and cloudy, there was a brief glimpse of sun and then the rain came back in full force.
A day to do nothing and enjoy the sofa. We didn't sleep any longer than usual, but we took our time to have breakfast and start the day without any stress.
The nice thing about it is having time for yourself and just doing nothing. Easier said than done!
Doing nothing is something I have rarely done in my professional life and finds quite difficult. It can be really challenging to allow yourself to "do nothing", especially when you are used to always being productive. It should not be underestimated. Bad weather can make this inner restlessness even worse because it often makes you feel like you have fewer options to keep yourself meaningfully occupied. But does everything have to be meaningful? No, it doesn't have to!
But you have to learn and accept that doing nothing is completely fine! It's liberating to just spend time without any obligations and feel good about it.
It helps to use the weather as an opportunity to just let go of everything. It also helps to put the thoughts that are floating around in your head when you're doing nothing on paper (or in your blog). Have you noticed that when you open a window, the sound of the rain has an almost meditative effect and helps you to relax? Just give it a try!
We took a short walk through the facility between two rain showers. We only met the cats and a few new arrivals.
And what else do you do when the weather is bad? Exactly, board games. We're tied in the internal competition, although it feels like Hampi has more luck than me and usually wins more often than I do. Unfortunately!
To end the day, we go out for dinner and redeem the voucher we won at the golf tournament at the Brasa restaurant. There is a tapas buffet and a bottle of rosé.
Well fed, we end the day without a sunset but with a pleasant evening atmosphere. We hope that tomorrow will be better, as we will be golfing again.
