Morning: Soria * Evening: Soria
***
In the morning, the sun and the idyllic Rio Duero with its beautifully landscaped riverbank tempt us out of bed. We jog along the water for a while. To our surprise, the Ermita de San Saturio, built into the rock above the river, is already open. And so, in jogging clothes and on an empty stomach, we enter through the rock opening. From there, we make our way up through the building. First to the sleeping area of the hermit San Saturio and then further up to the lavishly painted holy dome of the magnificent structure. Here we are suddenly very reverent...
Later, we have breakfast by the sunny and glittering riverbank and enjoy the moment.
Martin spends the day reading and dozing in the hammock above the river. I work in the camper office at first, and later out in the green. It's very pleasant here.
In the early evening, we ride our bikes to explore Soria. Up in the park near the university, there is a lot of laughter and shouting: students are throwing raw eggs at each other. A ritual to welcome the first-year students, the 'chicks'?
From up above, we discover that the Duero River flows through a beautiful valley framed by high cliffs. It must be wonderful for paddling...
Later, in the old town, we can't decide: is it still 'coffee time' or can we already order a beer? So we just do both at the same time. Churros with liquid chocolate - uaaahhhh delicious - and beer and prawns.
