Now we have arrived here at the wild coast of Durban for the second day in the 'Wright House', which will be our home for the next four months. It already feels much longer with so many new impressions. Our landlords, Annette and Anthony Wright, welcomed us on Thursday with homemade 'rusks' - a kind of traditional breakfast cookie - and a lot of warmth. Our apartment is a dream, actually too big for us two small people, in colonial style and with a balcony where we can not only have a wonderful breakfast, but also accommodate about 20 people for a barbecue. When we wake up in the morning and open the windows, we hear the sea... Our little house is about 50 meters above Brighton Beach - it's a breathtaking view!
We are not completely alone here either, luckily we have Max, our (German) property manager, who takes care of us, yesterday he took us three hours through the city and the American-style mega supermarket and guided us safely through the jungle of mobile phone SIM cards and all the pitfalls of car rental. So we are really well looked after!
Today we explored Anstey Beach on foot and spent a few lazy hours on the beautiful and partly deserted beach. A few families, schoolchildren, (mostly Indian) fishermen who look out for a twitch of the fishing line in the surf for hours...
