Travel to Auckland, New Zealand
6:00 PM, Terminal 1. The luggage bigger than ourselves. That strange feeling that can't be described. And us, who haven't yet realized that six uncertain months await us.
After the farewell, which was more or less difficult for us, we go through the security check 'just a quick video of our waving families', but the first disillusionment came quickly - in the form of the security personnel. Because filming was unfortunately not allowed here: 'Too bad about my first travel film' (Arnd).
A last look back and now we have around 30 hours of travel ahead of us. Although it is one of the longest flights in the world, the many hours went by faster than expected with sleep, food, games, and movies. So the flight was much more bearable than the (per person!) 20 Euro expensive breakfast in Dubai 😁
Friendly and accommodating - that's the first impression in New Zealand. Well, maybe the second, because at the beginning Arnd only got through the automatic security check on the fourth try and Nicola is still mourning her cucumbers that were confiscated before the actual arrival.
Happy and exhausted, we could finally take a shower in our hostel. 'Oh man, we underestimated how dirty we can feel after 32 hours' (Nicola). With a good feeling, we go to the center of Auckland. Here we quickly discovered a restaurant in vintage style, where we found a place on a small balcony with a view of the hustle and bustle of the city. Fun fact: We thought we flew to New Zealand, but judging by the streets, we are already in Asia. Now, after all the steep streets in Auckland, we certainly deserve the delicious sandwich.
After a little shopping, we arrive exhausted at the hostel, just lay on the bed for a moment and suddenly wake up the next morning.
