6th Week - Rio de Janeiro

Gepubliseer: 28.03.2018

Guess where I was last weekend 😍 #riodejaneiro #wuuupwuuup. This city is simply gigantic! I could never have imagined that Rio is so beautiful. The city automatically captivates you, you can hardly resist it. This time I was on the road with Louisa and Caro - a girls' trip only. We had three days to get an impression of the city. Although Rio is so diverse and you could easily spend a week here, we saw/visited the most important spots in the three days. Starting, of course, with the city's most famous landmark - the Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Cocovado. When you stand right in front of it, the statue seems overpowering and huge, but as soon as you look up from the city below, it feels as small as a Lego figure. You might even overlook it if you didn't know it was there. Nevertheless, visiting the Cristo Redentor was a highlight. Besides that, we visited the famous beaches (Leblon, Ipanema, and Copacabana), the Tijuca National Park (where I saw a wild hummingbird for the first time 😍), and of course, the Sugarloaf Mountain. From the top, you have a beautiful view of the city. We also spent almost half a day there because it was simply too beautiful to immediately go back down by cable car. We could even watch the sunset from there and see Rio transform into a sea of thousand lights. I can really recommend everyone to visit this city - it's worth it! Of course, we had some concerns beforehand because of the well-known high crime rate in the favelas, of which there are over 800 in Rio alone! However, it's the same as in any other city, as long as you don't venture into the dangerous areas and are a bit more cautious, nothing will happen to you. All in all, this city is simply fantastic and definitely worth a trip!

Of course, I don't want to withhold these wonderful pictures from you :)
