We get up early to visit the film set of 'The Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings'. Hobbiton, as the film set is also called, is located in a small valley by a lake surrounded by lush green hills where sheep graze. When Peter Jackson saw this landscape, he knew it was the perfect place for Middle-earth.
We were driven by bus from the parking lot to the heart of Hobbiton and that's where the tour started. Since we booked the first tour of the day, we were able to take pictures calmly. Our guide told us some interesting facts about the film set and the movies on the side.
To conclude our tour of Hobbiton, we enjoyed a cold beer at the Dragon Pub.
After that, we drove to Hamilton to visit the Botanical Gardens. There were various themed gardens, all very lovingly and carefully designed.
Our sleeping place for the night was a campsite by a stream 130 km south of Hamilton, close to our next destination. We ended the evening relaxed with a glass of white wine.
