Mission Beach / Australia

Unfortunately, we only spent 1 day at this beautiful beach as a stopover, so there's not much to tell here.

Mission Beach actually consists of only one small unremarkable street and a beautiful 14km long beach!

Furthermore, this is the number 1 spot for skydiving! We were lying right next to the flag on the beach where about 10 skydivers landed every hour - amazing! I would have loved to do it too, but it would have exceeded our budget 😀 Well, at least we could watch them all even if we couldn't jump ourselves.

A day after we left, a larger accident happened here with three skydivers who all lost their lives... I'm so glad we didn't have to witness that... A woman had received a skydive as a birthday present and as an addition, she was also given the opportunity to have an instructor film the whole jump. So the woman jumped in tandem with an instructor and the other instructor jumped alone with the camera to capture the tandem. Apparently, they got too close during the jump and an air hole caused a collision in the air. The parachutes were all open, but all three died during the collision and landed dead 😕😕😕 that's so terrible!
