Unfortunately, the weather put a damper on our plans today and we couldn't go to Yosemite National Park with heavy hearts.
After a hearty breakfast with the other guests of Larry and Marylin, who gave us great tips for the upcoming day in Yosemite, we received the news that the Tioga Pass was closed due to snowstorms. It had also been raining all night and it just wouldn't stop. So, not ideal conditions for a relaxed hike in Yosemite.
The Tioga Pass is a 3031m high mountain pass that goes straight through and over Yosemite National Park and would have been a shortcut for us by about 2 hours. But since we couldn't drive this pass today, our dream burst like a soap bubble! But we need a good reason to come back. We have been so lucky with the weather that although it was very annoying today, it was acceptable.
So we didn't go to Yosemite and instead went around it via the Sierra Pass. It took us about 4 hours to our next stop in Bridgeport.
Above all, our journey was very wet, but when we reached the summit of the pass, everything suddenly turned white and it started snowing! That was a small compensation for today's situation, because today we saw the first snow of the year ☺ Christmas can come.
Today we also visited the ghost town of Bodie. It was super cool to walk through the old and abandoned houses and imagine how much life there must have been here. It was a bit eerie, though, seeing all the things left behind that are still in the houses.
We will spend our second-to-last night in a little cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere, but it's definitely cozy here. However, it's a little while to the next town. And tomorrow, we will also be sitting in the car for a while, as we have to get to Las Vegas, where our vacation will end!
But you should stop when it's at its best.
And we have definitely seen a lot of beautiful things here in the last 3 weeks!
