On the first day, we drove the so-called Panorama Route with our VW Polo. Highlights on this route include:
- Lisbon and Berlin Falls
- God's Window with a small rainforest
- Bourke's Luck Potholes
- Blyde River Canyon
- Three Rondavels
The endpoint of the route is the view over the Blyde River Canyon. The entrance fee to the respective reserves / viewpoints ranged from 17R - 120R per person (1-7€). Unlike Germany, South Africa is currently in summer, and in this region, it is also the rainy season, resulting in a few but heavy rain showers. We were spared from these on the first day. With a humid 30 degrees, we found each of the individual destinations worth seeing, and the overall approximately 160 km drive through the South African landscape was impressive. A must for anyone who comes to South Africa! The highlight of the route for us is the view over the Blyde River Canyon. 🏞 After an eventful day, we returned to our lodge after about 7 hours, where a refreshing dip in the pool awaited us.
