It is May 20th, 2019. Today marks the start of our 12-day road trip through Scotland.
We have the Highlands, Lowlands, mountains, sea, and whiskey - lots of whiskey, at least for Maxi. Verena's whiskey experience will likely be limited to smelling, tasting, and processing Maxi's enthusiasm, but we shall see...
So, on this Monday, we set off towards Frankfurt.
Upon arrival, we were met with the first moment of shock: Verena's wallet was gone!!
So, we decided to check our luggage and reluctantly took a taxi back to the parking lot.
As it turns out, her wallet was still in the car - so we could confidently start our journey to the north, though 30 € poorer.
In Glasgow, we found the weather to be exactly what we had left behind in Germany. Around 18°C and cloudy - not very British.
After checking into the hotel (a wonderful Ibis Styles), we decided to explore Scotland's largest city.
In 'King Tut's', a live club that has hosted bands like Coldplay and Oasis, we had a typical Scottish dinner: Haggis and Fish & Chips.
In conclusion: delicious, but fried food every day - no way!
.... So here we are at 'The Pot Still', a small but very fine whiskey pub (with a great selection of whiskies, including special editions).
The shelves here are bending under the weight of hundreds of whiskies.
Maxi is in heaven - Verena is in hell. Must be the cider.
Tomorrow we'll do the city tour.
With that in mind, 'Good night' and 'slainte' from Glasgow!
