So now I'm on the plane to Madrid. Luckily there is a window seat in business class and there should even be food included. The good thing is that the seats are slightly more comfortable, but there is always one seat free between two people, so real luxury.
I'm using the time to write down a bit of my thoughts on vacation in general. I actually planned to travel to South or Central America in November last year, but I couldn't find any good flights. And in the end everything was short notice. I booked the flights for my current vacation in September, but apart from the flights, I didn't do much preparation or plan the vacation locally. On the advice of a friend, I got the travel guide from Lonely Planet, but it is very thick and it says that you would have to vacation there for a year to see everything. I also watched some videos on YouTube. I definitely won't do Macchu Picchu because there will be construction on the path in February and you have to book a tour there months in advance. There it can go up to $1000 for a few days. That's why I decided against it. I'm going to land in Lima. Spend 4 days there and then see at least 2 other places. I'll be staying there for a total of three weeks, but I also want to immerse myself a little in the places where I am. When I go on vacation, I always try to balance things out between planning everything to the letter and deciding everything spontaneously, but to be honest, planning for Peru was a bit overwhelming for me. Even though I travel a lot and have been to many places, things are a little different here: so far from home for the first time, 12 hour flight, Spanish (let's see how far I can get there with my Spanish), SIM -Get card. I will also have to look at the money or currency. Apparently you can pay with dollars there. That's why I've already exchanged something. I also have 2 credit cards and cash with me. And of course you hear a lot about crime there and scams. In general, I consider myself to be cautious and thoughtful. But sometimes there's little you can do about it yourself. So I sit on the flight and wait for the last passengers to board. So-called jet lag could also be new. And also when I travel to places that are several 1000 meters away. And the book talks a lot about altitude sickness. So the positive outweighs the negatives and yet so much is still uncertain. But I'm really looking forward to it and I'm not trying to do 100 activities every day. I want to arrive relaxed. I have a single room for the first 4 days. Will enjoy the weather and acclimatize the pool and myself. In any case, I plan to go on 1-2 day hikes and try a lot of the local food. Even though I enjoy traveling and would like to continue doing so, I will still spend more time in Cologne afterwards. Because lately I've been either working or on vacation and this has made planning to meet up with friends difficult. I'm also starting a sports program from March and I'll also be working on my online business there, so there are lots of plans that I'm looking forward to and a few smaller holidays are already planned. Now I'll enjoy the flight and watch a movie or read a book. Let's see :)
