What has happened so far...

Now let's move on to part 2. What have I been up to for the past 6 months?

On October 1, 2018, I flew back to Toronto from Vancouver and have been living with Terry, my friend, ever since. Two weeks later, we went to Nova Scotia with his father for his cousin's wedding. We explored Halifax, couchsurfed with a nudist, and visited Chris :)

After that, I not only had little money, but no money at all. It was very sad. So I looked for a job more actively. Unfortunately, I didn't have as much success as I had hoped. Most employers thought six months was too short to hire me. So at the end of October, I turned to a job agency and got a job in logistics. I scanned boxes and investigated lost boxes. It wasn't a great job, but at least I was earning money. I worked in a huge warehouse and there were over 100 employees. The best part was that there was always free lunch when a religion/culture had holidays. There were samosas for Indian festivals and cake for Mohammed's birthday, the prophet :) Just before Christmas, they let me go so they wouldn't have to pay me for the Christmas holidays. Oh man. I spent Christmas at Terry's mom's house and she gave me a bike pump as a gift. Terry had gotten a second bike so we could go cycling together :) 

I brought the Christmas tradition of baking cookies for hours to Canada :D 

After Christmas, I got a new job, again in logistics, but in a tiny warehouse and with only 3 colleagues. Even though I was there for only 2 months, I have to say that I've never had such a pleasant workplace. My boss was the best boss I've ever worked with. He respected all of his employees, he wasn't sexist, and he held constructive conversations about mistakes. I wish I could have stayed there, but the job itself was boring. I mostly listened to podcasts. Here's a 'thank you' to Nico, who recommended the podcast 'Zeit Verbrechen' to me. Sometimes I was so shocked that I briefly forgot to work :D The company produced cable ends, and when I was trained in it and was allowed to assemble cables, I was really excited. That was much more interesting.
