Norway trip May 26th - June 17th, 2022/June 04th.

Today we have to say goodbye to the beautiful Vesterålen. The Vesterålen has a lot in common with the Lofoten landscape, a bit more open, also many fjords, higher mountains, beautiful sandy beaches. You can be surprised by the beautiful natural wonders that appear around the next curve or road. Vesterålen is a region and part of an island group, about 300 km north of the Arctic Circle off the coast of Norway. Thanks to its proximity to the continental shelf, Vesterålen is the only destination in Norway where you can experience whales all year round, and it's also a great hiking area. We travel from rain to sun to Ramberg in the lower part of the Lofoten, where we have booked a nice cottage right on the fjord with Rolf. On our way there, we made a short detour to Gimsoy, an island in the Lofoten, and visited the beautiful Gimsoy Church. It is the main church of the Gimsoy og Strauman community, a smaller and beautiful wooden church. What we find unfortunate is that we haven't found any churches in Norway that are open. But it's worth taking a look at these churches from the outside as well. In the evening, we will play card games after a delicious dinner.
