The days on the ship start slowly and comfortably, as Peter is not fully awake before the 2nd cup of coffee anyway. We went shopping for the essentials in Paihia and then the anchor was pulled up - I get to help right away.
I also got to steer the boat right away. We sailed to Opua to fill up the water tanks there and off we go to one of the many bays in the Bay of Islands. There I was allowed to row the dinghy to the beach, which initially turned out to be not so easy, and then we went for a walk on the island. New Zealand and its 10,000 bird voices always impress me.
Pete showed me how to make my own ankle bracelet from plant fibers and shells, and meanwhile he caught our dinner - a snapper, which we ate in the evening in the form of fish and chips - yummy.
