After we had seen everything we wanted in Esperance, we set off on the journey back on 27.03. If we had driven straight through, we would have been in Perth in 8 or 9 hours... But we had plenty of time and also wanted to see more, as our return journey did not follow the coast, but went straight through the inland.
On Wednesday, 27.03., we only drove as far as Lake King. We thought there would be a beautiful big lake where we could maybe even go swimming.... but we were wrong. We were faced with a completely dried-up salt hole....which extended for kilometers 😂 We took some cool pictures right on the road (which went straight through the lake)... because it was completely deserted. The campsite was super cheap though! And right next door there was a pub, which we also went to.
On Thursday, 28.03., we continued on to Wave Rock. It is a big highlight in the middle of nowhere. It's a huuuuge rock that looks like a wave. Afterwards, we drove a little further to an even more remote place and spent a quiet afternoon and our last night there.
On Friday, 29.03., we had about 2 more hours of driving ahead of us.... There was only one attraction on the way.... a dog cemetery. 🤔 Of course, we made a quick stop there but then continued on to Perth. We went to Aldi again to stock up on food for the next few days. Then we had to clean our car from the outside and fill up the tank one last time. We then took Lisa to the train station and the three of us returned the car to the rental....no further problems there. Luckily, I didn't have far to go to the hostel and the other two girls accompanied me, so I was back at the same hostel where I was before the road trip... it felt a bit like coming home. 😉
Juls and Lin then spent their last days couchsurfing.
