Yesterday we arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Because we heard from many travelers that there is not much to see here, we don't want to stay here for too long. Tonight, our bus to Vietnam will already depart.
But when you are in Vientiane, you have to visit the Buddha Park. We took the public bus to this park, which took about an hour. The bus didn't have an official departure time, it would leave when there were enough passengers on board. Luckily, shortly after we got on, the bus departed. Except for the first and last station, there were no official stops. If you wanted to get off, you would call to the driver, and if you wanted to get on, you would wave on the street. So we made very slow progress, but it was fun to watch all the hustle and bustle.
When we arrived at the Buddha Park, we could admire numerous, partly very bizarre statues of Buddha and other figures. There were 100 different statues, including one of a particularly large reclining Buddha.
We admired the figures and climbed two monuments to get a good view of the entire park.
But even though the figures were very interesting, after 30 minutes we had seen them all. So we waited for the bus again and drove 1 hour back to our hostel.
We spent the rest of the day preparing for our upcoming trip to Hanoi.
