We slept great, it was completely quiet, no wind and no raindrops on the roof, great! After breakfast, we pack up and move on. We decide to take a detour inland, to the Douro Valley, where a lot of port wine is grown. We drive along the Rio Duero for a while and have a great view of the valley. It becomes more mountainous and we feel like we're in Canale, Italy. The small villages are also terraced here, with the difference that you don't look out onto Lake Garda, but onto the Duero! It's only 8 degrees during the day here, pretty fresh.
We just want to take a look and then go back to the coast. To get there, we decide to take a path straight through. We tell the GPS not to take any highways... that was a fantastic idea...!...!
Jörn looks at me almost disturbed when the GPS says, "Turn left here!" Am I really sure... yes... that's what the GPS says! We pass roads that we would never have seen otherwise and it takes us almost three hours to drive 150 km... what a trip! Nobody can really claim that we haven't seen the Portuguese hinterland...!
We drive the rest on the highway, otherwise we'll never arrive...! It's already twilight and we realize that Figueira de Foz is more of an industrial city than anything else! We find a place to sleep and book for only one night. We take the dog to the beach, but we don't stay long because soon it's pitch dark.
We're about to cook in front of the bus, the pan is already on the stove, when it starts to drizzle again. So we unpack and set up the rain cover and continue cooking... we don't mind anymore...! It sets up quickly, too, in no time! Afterwards, we chat a little under the rain cover and then off we go!
