Back in Fes

Gepubliseer: 07.12.2019

After another pancake breakfast, my bus goes to Fes. When I arrive there, I first buy my bus ticket to Merzouga for the next day and then go to Yassine. He had offered me to stay with them when I come back to Fes. It's somehow nice to see him, his mother, and Yoko, the Japanese girl, again, after I had the hammam experience with them a few days ago. It feels like I'm visiting friends :)

Culinary-wise, I'm once again spoiled. When I arrive, we have Lubia (White beans with tomato sauce) and pasta with milk for dinner. We play the Moroccan version of "Mensch ärgere dich nicht", which is more exciting than the German version. I have a late-night conversation with Yassine about everything and anything.
The next day, I actually wanted to make pancakes for the family, but unfortunately, I sleep too long, so Maria, Yassine's mother, beats me to it and already made breakfast. We have Harsha (cornbread roasted in a pan) with butter and jam.

After that, I go into the city with Yassine to buy a replacement for my broken iPhone cable and to do some other errands and have coffee. It's so different to be out in Fes with a local. Yassine knows many people, and in one cafe, we even get invited by the chef for Lubia. Unfortunately, I don't understand any Arabic, but somehow I enjoy just listening to the language.

In the afternoon and evening, Yassine has Airbnb reservations for cooking classes, and so I also have the opportunity to cook vegetarian tajine again. :)

Afterwards, I have to catch the bus. The ride to the bus station is right on time...But I'm sure that I will visit Yassine again before my departure from Fes.
