Gepubliseer: 28.06.2024

At 09:18 am the last photo was taken in Werfen and we rolled down the town towards Bad Gastein.

At Schwarzach: Reverse parking only with a parking attendant

There are no significant climbs until Schwarzach and we make good progress despite a cycle path diversion. Today's challenges come between Schwarzach and Klemm/Lend: it's steep uphill again and again.

Schwarzach and St. Veit: The first kilometer has a 10% gradient

After about 3 km of high-altitude trail and the evaluation of other cyclists, the following can be stated:

  1. The majority of cyclists ride e-bikes.
  2. Of the few others, 85% ride racing bikes without luggage.
  3. The disappearing rest of the crazy people without e-bikes have extra luggage with them. Just like us.
At Klamm

At the turnoff to the Gastein Valley, the Ragweg leads through a tunnel. There is a separate lane for bicycles, but it is

Start of the tunnel section at Lend: double-decker variant for cars

At the junction near Klamm into the Gastein Valley, the cycle path leads through a tunnel. There is a separate lane for bicycles, separated by a small concrete wall with a steel railing. Actually not dangerous, as long as no truck rams the barrier.

For 1.5 km you can hear the full roar of engines and the pressure waves of air caused by trucks in the tunnel. A very special adventure for claustrophobic bikers. You can find a video on our YouTube channel.

Reward for the day's stage: Eighths of Zweigelt classic and Rosé

At the end of the day there was live music in the pedestrian area.
