People have died here

Gepubliseer: 29.01.2020

Admittedly, the title screams click bait but hear me out. Dani, Tim and I went hiking on a mountain (Mt Beerwah) that is very challenging. It's more rock climbing than hiking, usually you need your hands to climb the mountain.

See for yourself. This is the beginning.
And that is the route. You really don't want to slip here.
The sign really was not exaggerated. This was tough.

There have been really distinctive walls on the upper part.

Really liked these
And the view from the top was great.

Dani and Tim didn't make it to the top, so it's just me and this huge fly on the foto.

Close to the mountain are cafes that are famous for their views. The meat sausages (typical Australian food) were great as well.

We sweated a lot this day and decided to cool down in a lake that is also in the same area.

Witness my poor attempts to be artistic..
Turns out we weren't alone with that idea.
It has been really lovely at the lake but we didn't stay very long because it was already late and here are plenty mosquitoes when the sun is about to go down.
That evening I drank that whiskey I carried from Colombia to Australia with Tim and Sam and the next day was basically just sleeping and feeling hungover. I've have been productive in the evening and fixed my bag with Olufs sewing machine after I got a short crash course.
I'm happy with the outcome!
It's more a piece of art now.

Oh and bicycle ways and pedestrian ways are a disaster IF THEY ARE EXISTENT. Sometimes it takes sometimes more then 5 minutes to cross a single road (yes I stopped the time and am serious).

I made this high quality image to explain it better.

So the white cross is the street and the green arrow the way I want to cross. But there is no traffic light on that side of the road and it's a big one. 4 lanes each side.

So I have to go the way of the red arrows and have to press a button every time I want to cross it. Each button waits the full 'traffic light cycle' out. As if that is not bad enough, the blue cross is an 'island' for pedestrians where they have to press the button to cross the second half of the road and wait AGAIN a full cycle. As if pedestrians had ANY INTENTION to stay on that f*cking island. Yeah I'm seriously mad here.

But apart of that, I'm totally loving it here. Today I did some shopping for New Zealand (a matress and a warm sleeping bag) and tomorrow Oluf and me are trying to get to that island again.

Love and peace,

Laurin
