Just an hour south of Kalbarri is the Pink Lake, which is actually Hutt Lagoon. We have been in the years before to other 'pink lakes' in Australia, which then turned out to be not really pink. So Stuart was really surprised when we arrived at the lake, that it was really pink! The lake has lots of algae which produce a substance which gives the lake the pink color, but also lots of salt, so you have these salty crust edges where Stuart decided to just sit down and enjoy the views while I made all the colorful photos:
As the wind was declining it was worth walking down to the Kalbarri beach to watch the sun set. At the beach there was almost no wind, but on the sea it was still pretty windy, so one could see big waves hitting the coastline.
