In the evening, I continue driving for another 3 hours until I reach Horn-Bad Meinberg, where I spend the night at a hiking parking lot near the Externsteine. I park next to another van with a license plate from Freiburg. The next day, I start a conversation with its owner, Ute, an ecologist who is not from Freiburg but from this area. Somehow, she managed to keep the license plate from the previous owner, FR, but I'm not sure how she did it...
We talk about yoga, nature, conscious eating, herbs, and spirituality while having a spontaneous breakfast in the meadow. As a result, I start my hike later than planned, around noon instead of early in the morning.
My hike takes me past the mystical Externsteine and along the Silver Stream Valley until I reach the Eggeturm. Along the way, I meet other people. Maria, who is documenting and certifying the Hermannsweg hiking trail (interesting job). And a couple at the Eggeturm from Duisburg, who are exploring their region with fully packed backpacks and a tent using the NRW-Ticket.
The spiritual energy of this hiking trail accompanies me the whole time, and the terrain is perfect for walking barefoot.
Unfortunately, you can see the strong impact of climate change in this forest. Due to the high temperatures, the bark beetle has multiplied significantly and infested the spruce trees, which can be observed in the brown spruce forests. The ground is covered with spruce needles, and occasionally rocks emerge.
Originally, I was planning to continue my journey today. However, since I found out that the European Yoga Center 🕉 Yoga Vidya is located here, I don't want to miss the opportunity and plan to visit there tomorrow. This will be the conclusion of my trip.
Right now, I'm sitting in a restaurant in Horn, enjoying a chanterelle cream soup and a peppermint tea, and ending the evening.
