In Spain there are sometimes signals that cars must maintain a lateral distance of 1.6 metres when parking their bikes. Never seen this in Portugal, but it would be desirable. I've been teased several times so that people start and avoid it.
The federal roads therefore have a wide stretch where cyclists can cycle with confidence. Normally there is nothing in the normal streets. But here the majority of cars are no longer available and we do not pay particular attention to the cyclists.
Today it is also driven partly by roads with natural pavement, that is, gravel, arenas, clay, etc. Some places have become very crowded and I know my experiences with this. So I'm about to leave a path by the sea. I don't want to return the meter to a terrible situation. You can see what I want to say in the photos.
Several times I descended into the sea, suddenly turning back to earth. Especially was the crossing where the oaks crossed the road, which seemed to be the better part of an arroyo. Just wait until the water flows out so you can cross it relatively dry.
There are beaches all over the place that you can get into by car. They are very popular among surfers. A little before my departure today, the parking of the recreational vehicles was practically empty. Yes this is for the holiday season.
Unfortunately, today I have no new encounters and I smothered none of the faces I knew yesterday. Are you behind or behind me? I love singing.
In Spain I have read a few signs saying that cars must keep a 1.6 metre distance to the side when overtaking bicycles. I have never seen this in Portugal, but it would be desirable. I have been overtaken a few times, which could make you scared and anxious.
The main roads usually have a narrow strip where cyclists can ride with confidence. There are usually none on normal roads. But most cars don't drive any slower here and often don't pay any special attention to US cyclists.
Today I also drove on roads with natural surfaces, ie gravel, sand, clay, etc. Some places were very muddy again and you already know my experiences with that. So I soon left a path along the sea. I didn't want to get into an unpleasant situation again. You can see what I mean in the photos.
There were a few steep descents down to the sea, only to go steeply up again straight away. The transition was special, where the waves flooded the path, which also looked more like a stream bed. I had to wait for the moment when the water started to recede so that I could cross it relatively dry.
There are beaches everywhere that can be accessed by car. These are very popular with surfers. Just before my destination today, the parking lot for motorhomes was practically full. And this was outside the season or holiday period.
Unfortunately, there were no new encounters today and I didn't see any of the familiar faces from yesterday either. Are they in front of or behind me? I would be delighted to know.
