Today we promised the children a bison encounter. For this, we drive to the nearby Elk Island National Park.
The family entrance ticket (up to 7 people) includes almost all of Canada's national parks and is ideal for our further trip.
We start at the Bison Loop and come across a bison bull standing in the distance. So we continue further into the park, which is interspersed with numerous idyllic lakes. There are great hiking trails and boardwalks and we make good use of them. The kids are fascinated by the large beaver castles and the freshly nibbled trees. When we come across fresh bison droppings and clear hoof prints on a narrow path, we decide to turn back for safety.
The bison bull is still there, but now closer to the trail and we can observe him well. We see a larger herd in the distance at a lake as we leave the park.
Karen is already expecting us and we drive together to Betsy. The kids are excited about the large green grounds around the house and the highlight is a fast ride on a riding lawnmower, which Betsy brings out from the garage to the great joy of everyone.
