20. Washington, USA

In Victoria I then took the ferry to Port Angeles, Washington. From there I drove comfortably towards Seattle to visit a friend.

I spent the first night at a campground nearby and enjoyed a really beautiful sunset in the evening.

In the afternoon I arrived in Seattle and picked up Josh from work. In the evening we went out to eat and the next morning we left early because we had a long way to go. The goal was La Push for surfing. After borrowing a surfboard and wetsuit, we went straight into the water. After Josh showed me the basics, I just had to put them into practice. It actually worked more or less! I hit a few waves well, others not so much. But surfing is definitely a lot of fun.

Eventually, a giant tree washed up on our beach, we estimate it was about 60 to 80m tall when it was still alive. Here's a picture of me next to it for comparison:

After I dropped off Josh in Seattle again, I continued to Mount Rainier National Park.
I was very lucky with the weather here as well. It was raining and heavily cloudy on the way, but as soon as I arrived, it cleared up and stayed that way for the next few days.

First stop was Sunset. I went hiking here, and part of the hike was in the clouds.

Unfortunately, it was too cloudy and the campground was in the forest, so I couldn't watch the sunset.
The next stop was Paradise - a very fitting name for the 'place'.
With fantastic weather, I was able to do several hikes here and enjoy the scenery and views.
