Oh how nice it is to be back here!
Although I must admit that I liked you better last time Noosa. But that is probably not your fault, but rather the bad weather that seems to be following us unfortunately.
June 5th greeted us with sun, but after that the rain seemed to prefer us. Since we had already seen this in the weather forecast, we made the most of our first day in Noosa and went to the Noosa National Park to do the Coastal Walk, see the Fairy Pools and look out for dolphins, as well as to the Noosa Forest to enjoy the beautiful spot where salt and fresh water mix. Unfortunately, luck wasn't really on our side, as we didn't see any dolphins and the low tide didn't deliver the beautiful magical image that I had in mind of the Noosa Forest. Nevertheless, it was a very nice day that we ended with a stroll through Hastings Street. Or not quite ended, since Timo's 20th birthday was tomorrow, we decided to celebrate it in our hotel bar. However, this plan was thwarted by two bouncers who didn't want to mistake Riel for Timo... Since Riel's passport is currently not available (it was vomited on and then thrown away, long story...), anyway Timo lent his passport to Riel and went in himself with his driver's license, but the bouncers got wind of it, Riel was not allowed in at all and Timo was thrown out. But of course, Timski and I didn't let that discourage us, and we went to the beach alone with two bottles of Goon. Lonely on the beach, we were eventually picked up and invited by other celebrators. They also said they had a guitar haha. So we went over to them and finally found out that they were a gang of homeless people partying on the beach. Very kind people in themselves, they sang a birthday song for our no longer teenager and I was taught a few self-defense tricks. Not everyone can say they celebrated their 21st year with a few homeless people.
We spent the actual birthday in the 'hinterland' after waking up the little one with pancake cake, at a small waterfall, with swing ropes that we all used (despite icy water) to swing into the small pool below the falls. Definitely icy and nerve-wracking, but cool! In the evening, there was a big party in our bar and then in the local nightclub in Noosa.
The next two days were very rainy, so we didn't do much. Timo and I took a long beach walk at Sunshine Beach and visited the Noosa Marina, and we cooked together every evening, but other than that, everyone stayed to themselves, or rather T and I stayed together.
On the morning of June 9th, we received rather unpleasant news. Riel, who did not return to the hostel at night, sent a selfie to the WhatsApp group. From the hospital. He didn't really remember what happened, but apparently he got drunk and beaten somewhere... however, there was nothing we could do about it, so we packed our things and drove an hour to the south to pick up our comrade.
After another hour's drive back, we decided to relax on the beach, because Noosa showed its sunny side again today. Right on time for the sunset, we went a little further on the Coastal Walk, which was rewarded with beautiful views of Sunshine Beach and hidden coves like Devils Kitchen and Alexandria Bay.
We spent the night at a free camp before driving to Rainbow Beach the next day.
