Day 9: Norwich

Gepubliseer: 16.07.2023

The sun wakes us up and the wind has calmed down a bit. We start from the campsite around half past 10 with our first destination being the Norfolk Wildlife Trust - Broadland Conservation Centre. It's only a few meters from the parking lot to the start of the trail. The wooden boardwalk leads through the marsh landscape to a lake where a small visitor center is located. There, you can get information about the animals living here and also observe some of them. We see herons, cormorants, a fish eagle nest, and many other water birds. Unfortunately, the otters and fish eagles remain hidden from us. We then walk back along the water, passing through the reed beds and over the planks to the parking lot. Now our tour continues to Norwich, the capital of Norfolk. There, we take a tour past several churches, the marketplace, which is mostly closed today, and the shopping street in the center. There is also a castle from the Norman period, but parts of it are under renovation and therefore closed, so we move on. Of course, there is also a grand cathedral here, which we take a look at. We keep our visit short and just take a stroll in the 140-meter-long church. There is a labyrinth in the cloister where the children can walk along. We also see some half-timbered houses and houses from the Tudor period. After having ice cream and coffee, we go to the nearby campsite. The children play sports in the self-built parkour. The place is quiet and we use the time to rest.
