Day 22: Thursday 23.08.2018 Wild Atlantic Way (Ballybofey-Portstewart)

Gepubliseer: 24.08.2018

After a hearty Irish breakfast, we set off on the Wild Atlantic Way towards the north. The hotel was quite good, but a bit old-fashioned. It was strange that we had to wear a swim cap in the swimming pool in the wellness area. Since we didn't have any, we had to buy them for €3 each. The sauna was about 5 sqm 'big' and was located directly next to the swimming pool. That's why you had to sauna in swimwear (but without a swim cap!). Our path took us to Malinshead - the northernmost point of Ireland. The Atlantic was very rough there and it was very windy. After that, we continued to Muff, the last place in Ireland before heading to Northern Ireland. J. got his hair cut there and after a few improvements from T. with the nail scissors, it looks quite decent. On our way, we were bid farewell by Ireland with 13 (!) rainbows and welcomed by Northern Ireland. We spent the evening and the night on the promenade of Portstewart. In a pub, we got some tips from the locals for our weekend in Belfast and the Giants Causeway.
