After having had very little to do at school in the past few days, things got a bit more hectic for me in the past few days.
On Thursday, I was allowed to trim the hedges in the garden, and on the same day, there was a summer festival for people with disabilities in the village. As volunteers, we were supposed to help with setting up, prepare snacks, and make sure everything goes smoothly.
In the evening, I went on a little fishing trip with Ole Bjarne, and I even caught a small pollack, but we were able to release it back into the water. We were accompanied by a young author and writer who is currently residing here.
Jakob Sande is THE poet in the region, so there is a program where poets and writers can stay in his birthplace for a few weeks to have a quiet place to write. They don't have to pay rent, they just have to do a reading at the end.
The fishing trip lasted quite long, so I was glad that the next day I didn't have to be at school until 1 p.m. for the graduation ceremony. All the employees gathered in the cafeteria at a sweltering 29°C, speeches were given, and cake was eaten. The conversations there were great, even though they were in Norwegian :)
Since I wanted to leave all this hustle and bustle behind me somehow, I went to the Viking graves, where I had been before. Somehow, the writer ended up coming with me and we talked there about his plays - not quite the peace and quiet I had hoped for, but still pleasant.
Instead of going straight back to Dale, we took a detour through Hyllestad, which is known for its steep cliff, but we barely saw it.
