When the snow falls wunderbar
and the children happy are,
when the Glatteis on the street
and we all a Glühwein need,
then you know, it is time:
She is here, the Christmas time.
Every Parkhaus is besetzt,
because the people are driving now,
all to Kaufhof, Mediamarkt,
get nearly a heart attack,
shopping brain-burning things
and the Christmas bell rings.
Merry Christmas, merry Christmas,
hear the music, see the lights,
joyful Christmas, joyful Christmas,
Merry Christmas everyone...
Mother in the kitchen bakes
chocolate, nut and almond cookies,
Daddy in the next room
decorates a huge Christmas tree.
He is hanging the balls,
then he falls from the ladder…
Finally the children,
come into the room
and the family sings
horribly: "Oh, Christmas tree!"
And everyone in the house
is unpacking the presents.
Merry Christmas, merry Christmas,
hear the music, see the lights,
joyful Christmas, joyful Christmas,
Merry Christmas everyone...
Mama finds under the Christmas tree
a brand new Teflon pan,
Papa gets a tie and socks,
everyone rejoices.
The President speaks on TV,
all around is harmony,
until mother runs into the kitchen,
the Christmas goose burns in the oven.
And then the fire brigade comes
with Tatü, tata,
and they bring a long, long hose,
and a long, long ladder,
and they shout - "Water, go!"
Christmas is - now in the - bucket.
Season's greetings from Blumenau, currently quite chilly at 25°C. I am the only guest in the hostel and celebrated Christmas Eve with the hostel crew and their friends yesterday. Everyone brought something to the table, I had a bag of slightly deformed Stollen confectionery in my backpack and I turned my delicious pasta with fresh filled pastries and red wine tomato onion garlic bacon olive mixture into a delicious noodle salad.
We celebrated in the courtyard and there was all sorts of familiar and unusual food, potato salad, quinoa salad, rice chicken, onion quiche, grilled food, layered salad, fried sweet potatoes and so on, everything was delicious, even my creation went down well.
Sweets of the normal and the slightly different kind, as well as sports cigarettes... 😉 And of course drinks of all kinds. Nice evening except for the lack of knowledge of Portuguese. At least some of the very relaxed people could speak English. Impression improved again.
A few impressions from Blumenau including a few curiosities, the Villa Germanica hosts the largest Oktoberfest outside of Munich every year with dirndls and lederhosen and all sorts of German trinkets. Funny names and so on.
So I wish you Merry Feasting.
