(Actually, the entry should only be called Victoria, but apparently the titles here have to be ten characters long :/ )
After three weeks in Victoria, I had enough and now I'm back on the mainland. Not because Victoria isn't beautiful, absolutely not. Victoria has a really beautiful downtown area, in the English style, with lots of small shops, pubs, and restaurants everywhere. Unfortunately, it's unbearable in the winter. I thought it rained a lot in Vancouver, but I found Victoria worse. If there is good weather in Vancouver, it stays. In Victoria, you might be lucky to wake up with sun in the morning, but the rain is back by noon at the latest. The three weeks I was here: constant rain. Unfortunately, I didn't see as much of the city as I wanted to because of that, but I did visit the downtown area and the harbor. Influenced by the English style, Victoria has some impressive buildings. The parliament and the Empress Hotel impressed me the most.
One attraction that I really liked was the Fisherman's Wharf. A collection of houseboats has settled at several piers (in this case, the term 'house-boat' is to be taken literally). In addition to apartments, the houseboats also contain small hotels, whale tour offices, and many food stores. Unfortunately, all the stores don't open until April, so we could only see the wharf in its winter state.
