Whangarei is one of the larger cities in the north of New Zealand. There we replenished our supplies and bought a gas cooker :-) In the afternoon, we took the Otaika Valley Walk, which presented us with the unique nature of New Zealand - a mix of rainforest and the forests we know from home.
No wonder the New Zealanders take care of their landscape. In front of each of the walks there is a box of shoe polish to prevent the introduction of anything that could harm nature. In addition, there are many live traps for mammals that endanger the bird population and especially the kiwis.
In the evening, we found a beautiful place for a meal and then drove to the iSite to spend the night there.
The next day we took a beautiful walk, combining two walks. On the one hand, we had a beautiful view from a mountain and on the other hand, a mega view of the sea.
And the best part: we discovered a brilliant place to sleep there.
