The day after the Full Moon, we went for my dental check-up and came back to Koh Phangan. In the hostel, we met our friends and motivated the dead bodies to join us at the Amsterdam Bar. We enjoyed a wonderful view of the sea and the islands. After sunset, we went to an Italian restaurant. The food was heavenly, simply delicious.
Back in the hostel, we were all pretty wasted and wanted to sleep, actually. Into the room, jokingly saying to each other 'and crawling something?'. And yes, something was crawling, near my pillow. Now it started, the cockroach hunt of my life. I took off my shoe and tried to crush it on the spot, but it crawled back and forth and fell to the floor, and cowardly as it was, it hid under the bed. Now the search began, when we found it, I tried to crush it very slowly with our camera telescope. Missed! It crawled further away, and we found it again but missed it. Damn it! This time we searched for quite a long time until I found it behind a plastic pot full of 'I don't know what it is'. I got rid of it this time and thought it was done. We left the room and came back half an hour later. Number 2 had arrived, but I was more skilled now and took care of it immediately. We then asked the French-speaking owner if this was normal or what was wrong with the musty room. He didn't know what else to say except that it was quite damp in this room, no, really! And he also admitted that he forgot to spray the cockroach spray. He gave it to me and I did it in his place. After that, we left the room and came back after 30 minutes. Lo and behold, Uncle and Aunt Cockroach came to visit and they even brought Grandma. My girlfriend and I had had enough and wanted to move to another room. And that's what we got.
So, as a precaution, we emptied our backpacks and everything, just to make sure we weren't carrying any stowaways. It was fine in the new room until I noticed a crawling sound in the door frame. La Cucaracha was caught, and at that point, we didn't care anymore because at half past 2 in the morning, it no longer mattered. We wanted to sleep and leave the hostel early. We hung up the mosquito net and had a shitty sleep.
