Last days in Cape Coast

已發表: 15.08.2019

Cape Coast was for me this chill beach town, even tho its center is crowded and very lively. Tomorrow in the morning I will (try to) hitchhike to Ada Foah, where I'll meet with Caleb, another Couchsurfer and we will spend the entire weekend on the beach.

My breakfast is fruit from now on, as long as I have access to some.
Here you see some mango.. It's easy, cheap, healthy and is just some happy breakfast.
Happy breakfast usually ends with this little guy. Gonna miss him.
Yesterday I went with Eric downtown, he had to do some stuff and I had to get more fruits. What you see here are ALL taxis, except the big black SUV coming around the corner at the very end. These taxis are shared taxis, basically, they have a rough direction where they are going to and bring you there. Super convenient!

Later that day I visited the castle of Cape Coast, which was cool but less intriguing then the castle in Elmina. This town has not so much more to offer and it's time to move on.

There are more pictures in the picture section.

The melons here have a lot of seeds, really plenty and are only mediocre in taste - I've been a bit disappointed. Mangos + avocados will be my Bff's.

My latest veggie hunt on the market ended in finding eggplant. Usually they look like this emoticon: 🍆. But these don't. Its different local types.
I put them for 25 minutes in the oven, added some salt and pepper and ate them with guacamole and the rest of the melon.
The weird eggplants are ok, I'd prefer the big type tho. Typically one type is used for a certain stew, the other one for a soup.

Later that day Priscilla made some 'Palava source'. The white stuff is a root, the green stuff smashed leaves. It was very delicious even tho it brought me once again to the limits of how spicy I can eat 😂

I did you not tell about my disastrous search for slippers (flip-flops) yet..
I bought the first pair together with Foster, he was so nice to carry them for me in his bag and thats where they stayed when we said goodbye. I will eventually come back to Accra but will need slippers until then, so I bought my second pair (first pair on the left).
They are made out of leather but cheaply done and the leather between the toes was really rough. My skin didn't last five minutes. I tried to fix that with some tape but to no avail. The third pair (in the middle) was bought just around the corner but the plastic is has these strings that cut easily into my toes. I know, I know this all sounds like a little kid is crying but look my feet:

When I found some sand paper I'll see if that helps to eliminate the strings.
Anyway I found my last pair really cheap (3€) and just bought them. They are a tad too small but with time they will expand hopefully, so I'll be fine.

This night will end in Eric, Priscilla and me drinking at the beach, then I'll move to the next beach 🌊.

I heard it rains a lot recently in Germany, I send u some sun beams 🌞 🌞 🌞
