The Grampians

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 13.11.2017

The highlight of this year for me (and probably most people) is the leisure time. You have so much fun on the weekends, you can do whatever you want and meet so many different new people. And even if you don't get along with everyone, it's a great experience.

So this weekend (11th November 2017-12th November 2017) I went to the Grampians with 26 other Aupairs. The Grampians are a national park in the north-east of Melbourne, about 3 1/2 hours away.

I rented a car with Charlotte, Lina, Sophie (France), and Charlotte (England). Unfortunately, something went wrong with our reservation and we had to choose a more expensive rental. At least we arrived at our hostel right next to the Grampians with a little delay. The hostel was super nice and we had a really spacious, big cabin with cute kangaroo neighbors. We were also so lucky with the weather, as we had 30 degrees each day! Since we arrived later than all the other Aupairs, we went hiking on our own. We hiked to the Mc Kanzie Falls and the highlight was that we also swam there (which is actually not allowed, oops). That was one of the coolest things I have experienced here so far. Afterwards, we drove to the famous Blandines to watch the sunset. But it got pretty chilly and windy there, so we decided to head back to the hostel earlier to have some dinner. We then grilled at a public barbecue area at the campsite. It wasn't really delicious (Australians somehow can't make sausages), but still a cool experience. In the evening, we sat around the campfire and talked with about 30 other Aupairs. This trip was exactly how you imagine a road trip: a dream.
