Today I'll make it short, the day was exhausting 😅
Great weather at the start, 12 °C and sunny. That makes you want to drive through beautiful countryside. No matter what road surface. By the way, the roads will be built/repaired when in full use. You then just drive carefully and on what is under the asphalt. There are tons of stones here, they are crushed to the required grain size at suitable places right on the side of the road.
My first longer stop was at the Dynjandi waterfall. A gloriously majestic sight and sound. The waterfall plunges down in several stages. And the area is fantastically beautiful and uninhabited.
The second detailed stop was in Ísafjörður. I know the name of the city from a series and I really wanted to go there. Had a very good lunch and walked around the harbor with the cruise ships. On the way to the next place I came through the first road tunnel in Iceland, the Arnarneshamar. Usable for the first time in 1948, it was slightly enlarged in 1995. One encounters as many stories as actually everywhere...
The drive to today's place of residence was wonderful, it rolled as if by itself. Until, yes, until the wind came up. Cold strong wind. 4°C was indicated and wind speed 12m/s. I had put on everything warm again very quickly. But that doesn't help against the effects that the wind and its gusts have on the road holding. Man, what a ride for the last 60km or so. I was chilled to the bone and glad there were only a few trucks on the road. The middle of the street was my favorite spot, so I had enough meters left and right just in case. For a long time I had to drive in an inclined position, and at 60km/h I sometimes had a consumption of almost 5 liters (usually 3.5).
Fortunately, today's hotel has a nature "hot pot". I lay there for over half an hour to warm up.
It is very pleasant but also unusual when the stream that meanders through the meadow has warm water 😅🔥🛀
