Yesterday there was another boat trip. Since 1910, only electrically powered ships have been operating on Lake Königssee. Every 15 minutes, one of these steamers sets off and transports hoards of tourists across the lake. Daniela and I took the crossing on one of these ships.
As is usual on such trips, a lot is explained. The ship is stopped at about halfway and the explaining person plays the Königssee melody on a trumpet to demonstrate the echo. It's really cool.
Unfortunately, the Watzmann with his wife and seven children could not be seen, the family hid in a cloak of clouds.
The first stop of the ship was the pilgrimage chapel St. Bartholomew, but we stayed on board and continued to the end of the lake where we left the ship. We continued on foot, along the Obersee to the Fichunkelalm. It's a footpath of about one hour, a beautiful route along the crystal-clear and mirror-like Obersee. It's worth it.
Back on the ship, we enjoyed the ride to the chapel, got off one more time, visited the chapel, and had a coffee, then we went back to the starting point of our journey.
My shoes, which were still intact in the morning, didn't particularly like the hike over rocks and stones. The soles dissolved in delight, so I could dispose of them.
In the evening, we reviewed the day over a bottle of wine. At the next table were six young French girls, they celebrated their dinner, spending hours preparing a delicious meal. It was so much fun to watch them, wonderful.
Today we will continue, Daniela will head towards Lake Chiemsee and I will head towards home.
