We are now camping in San Vito Lo Capo. The place is located on a peninsula in the north, at the end of a 23 km long dead end. The main road seamlessly transitions into the beach; so you can easily spend your day walking back and forth between a beach lounger, a swim in the sea, and a café on the street, all while wearing your swimwear and flip-flops.
The water here has a reputation for looking especially beautiful. When lit from above, it sparkles and shimmers, giving you a Caribbean feeling.
Next door, there is the Lo Zingaro National Park, which fortunately was not cut in half by a coastal road due to protests from the local population. Instead, today you can hike along the coast between San Vito and Scopello or take a boat to one of the relatively inaccessible coves to snorkel or lie on the beach. In fact, the nature here reminds us more of the Wild West or Mexico than a European island.
