This morning we strolled through Dijon right in the early morning. After all, we wanted to see the city in daylight. And we were not disappointed, but instead discovered even more beautiful corners. Then the route led us through Burgundy to Vezelay, a village that consists mainly of a huge church high on the mountain and some houses nestled against the hill. Both of us were blown away by the cathedral. Pure, simple but very fascinating. The whole place exudes an enormous tranquility, which did us good after these eventful weeks. Next on our list was the Guedelon Castle project. After an hour of sometimes really spectacular driving (through a river and almost over a dog), it turned out that it is closed in winter. So we made our way to the hotel in Auxerre. Even though we arrived in the dark, the old town made a really great impression. Two very large churches, many shops and winding alleys, we want to take a closer look tomorrow. For dinner, after a city walk, we found a small Italian restaurant with cucina alla Mama. For the starter, we had pizza with buffalo mozzarella and rocket, then homemade ravioli with truffle and buffalo mozzarella, and polenta with wild boar ragout. For dessert, we decided on tiramisu and mini pizza with Nutella. Everything was super delicious.
