After breakfast, we take the ferry to Rongatito Island - 25 minutes from the mainland - a former volcanic island. 1 hour of easy ascent to the former crater proves to be more challenging than expected, as the volcanic rock emits an eerie heat, and we are very grateful for the wind that has been blowing strongly for the second day. However, the climb was worthwhile, considering the view that awaited us - sandy beach, sea, hills, city, everything to see, and to our luck, the sun and the blue sky had also decided to show up - fantastic.
Unfortunately, we had to 'descend' quickly again, as we had to catch the last ferry - because it was a bit too far for swimming :)
After arriving back on the mainland, we first went back to the hostel to freshen up and then went in search of a restaurant for dinner. One would now think that you can quickly find a restaurant in Auckland, well in the end it turned out to be the pizzeria right next to the hostel, after we had been driving around for half an hour before - you could have found fast food faster :)
