City Tour Wellington

Backpackers are late risers .. at least the young ones ... so I have an empty kitchen all to myself for breakfast at 07:00. On the way to Wellington, I also join the rush hour traffic out of sympathy for the working population until I can finally park the car at Te Papa Tongarewa. The museum only opens at 10:00, enough time to take the Cable Car 120m up a small hill. There is a beautiful view of the city, a botanical garden, an observatory, and many winding paths that eventually lead back down. On the way back, I walk along the promenade, a chill place to sit in the sun and watch the hustle and bustle. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed in the museum's interesting sections, but you can learn a lot here about the Maori people, their origins, customs, and development. I think it's a good start to the tour, even though I quickly lost track of the different tribes. After that, I enjoy the sun on the promenade for a while and plan for tomorrow. In the next few days, I will be circling the North Island counterclockwise, starting by driving along the east coast to the north.
