30 hours - 4 airports - 18,000 km

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 02.10.2017

Since New Zealand is on the other side of the world, the journey here is naturally long. We were on the road for a total of 30 hours. The first leg from Hamburg to Dubai took about 6 hours, 6 hours in which I unfortunately couldn't close my eyes. At the airport, we had a 4-hour layover before our next flight, which would take us to Auckland via Melbourne. We were already tired and fed up, and we had to keep reminding ourselves that we had only completed 1/3 of the journey. But of course, the last 17-and-something hours also passed somehow. After sitting for hours, watching a few movies (one of the advantages of Emirates), and going through what felt like a thousand security checks, we finally arrived at our destination. Apparently, we were lucky at immigration. A friend told me that she had to unpack her entire suitcase, and another friend reported long waiting times and barking dogs. Fortunately, this did not happen to us. Also, the alleged inspection of shoes, sleeping bags, or similar did not apply to us. We just had to briefly show what we had with us and let the backpack pass through the scanning machine, and then we were allowed to enter the country. New Zealand apparently welcomed us with open arms ;)
