22.06.2023 - Sailing in Paradise

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 03.07.2023

There it was, our last destination on the east coast of Australia. After a little over four weeks and a total of twelve stops, our time here was already coming to an end. For the finale, we chose another special highlight. Actually, all the places we have visited so far are highlights, but this place stands out once again. We went to Airlie Beach, specifically to the Whitsunday Islands. The Whitsundays consist of a total of 74 islands and are known for one thing: turquoise water, white sandy beaches, and unique coral reefs that form the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Since this paradise can only be reached by water, we exchanged our beloved car for a boat here. In order to explore the archipelago to the fullest, we opted for a two-day tour on a sailboat. Together with eight other travelers and the two-man crew, we set sail on the Prima. Since the last blog entries were very long, I will keep it short for a change. In the two days, we visited Whitehaven Beach with the stingrays, snorkeled in coral reefs, saw a beautiful sunset, and let ourselves be thoroughly cooked instead of wielding the cooking spoon ourselves. I think the pictures speak for themselves at this point, which is why I don't want to say much more about the Whitsundays.

Before we went on the sailing tour, we spent a few days in Blackdown Tableland National Park. We took it easy there. Sleeping in, taking smaller hikes, and planning the rest of our journey were on the agenda.

After visiting the national park and the sailing tour, we headed towards the highway, and for a very long time. But more on that in the next post.
