Seventh stage from Viladeduso to Baiona on the Camino Portugues da Costa

Yesterday morning it was really foggy again. When I set off from my hotel around 8:30 am, it looked as though the fog was clearing up. It became a bit brighter, and I could see the Atlantic Ocean again. The path wasn't very exciting. It mostly ran along the cycle/pedestrian path. After about 10 km, I took a break at a café next to a lighthouse. It looked really beautiful. Inside, they had some great decorations, and outside, a band was setting up. There were posters everywhere for this event :-).

I didn't stay for the concert, though; I continued walking after a longer pause. What can I say, the fog thickened again. You couldn't see beyond the next curve. It was totally crazy that I didn't really recognize my arrival in Baiona. There were suddenly more people on the sidewalks. As you walk into Baiona, there's a castle on the left side before the harbor, and you couldn't see it at all. I had to laugh; it all looked quite spooky. Since the fog didn't interfere with my hunger, I found a nice restaurant in the old town. There, I ordered fresh shrimp. Hmmmmmm, they were really delicious. Of course, I cleaned my plate, and suddenly the sun came out. The fog slowly started to lift, and more and more ships in the harbor became visible. Even the wall of the castle became visible. I then walked around Baiona in a zigzag until I had brought my backpack to my accommodation. After a shower, I went to the beach and laid down in the sand with a non-alcoholic beer. I didn't want to walk another step; I just wanted to enjoy the warm sun on my body. In the evening, I returned to the accommodation; the owner wanted to have a drink with me. No, no, better not ;-), I can't handle alcohol. He proudly showed me his garden with an avocado tree. It was actually full of fruits. I could have eaten them, but I was still soooo full :-).

The stage was 18.4 KM long!
