5. Stage Camino Portuguese da Costa from Ancora to A Guarda

Нашр шудааст: 20.09.2024

This morning there was a fantastic breakfast. It's just a pity that I can't eat that much ;-).

Well-fed, I stepped out of the hotel with my backpack and lo and behold, it seemed that Peter was upset about my remarks regarding the sun and thought, Anke, you're going to get wet today!!!

I put on my rain poncho and my little hat to protect my glasses. Now it was time to go. It also stopped drizzling relatively quickly, so I could take off the poncho again.

Today, I walked completely along the coast again. The arrow pointed to the right at one point, but I could see on my Komoot map that I could continue on my path. Luckily, I did, because the trail led through a wonderful woodland area with a wide sandy floor right next to the sea. Behind the woodland, I wanted to turn right and head towards the ferry. But a little Yorkie had caught my attention. I started a conversation with the owner, and we talked for a long time about dogs. She said I didn't need to walk all the way to the ferry in the harbor; there was also a small taxi boat to Spain just around the corner. How cool, it felt a bit criminal, but it wasn't, because the police were right on the beach. :-). So it must have been legal. A small taxi boat transported 7 people + captain and two bicycles. Awesome, the ride took no more than 5 minutes, and before I knew it, Anke was in Spain. 'Ole'!

Since we docked somewhere other than the big ferries, I could continue walking completely along the coast. Despite the clouds and some drizzle, it was again very beautiful to walk along the sea. The path led from the beach over a wide wooden walkway. First, there was a small woodland area on the right, and behind it was the mountain region of Santa Trega. It looked amazing, as some clouds were stuck in the mountain.

The view of the small harbor town of A Guarda was fantastic. The harbor was to my left, where fish was being sold. A woman was shouting through a microphone, and dozens of people were gathered around the boxes. Suddenly, I felt like having lunch. I ate grilled cod in a small restaurant. Mmm, it was really good. The owner then gave me a large shell as a farewell gift, which I thought was really sweet :-). After lunch, I wanted to explore the town, but the shops closed at 2:00 PM, so I could only look at the things that were on my way to my hotel. There weren't many, but that was okay :-)! Today's stage was 15.2 km long, and it was very pleasant for me to walk in this weather :-)!

My hotel is located a bit above the town, so I can look down at the bay. Hopefully, the visibility will be better tomorrow.

I was just in a supermarket; unfortunately, I forgot my phone for any potential translations. At the sausage and cheese counter, there was a communication problem. I wanted 4 slices each of cheese and chicken sausage. The cheese was quickly packaged, but there were problems with the sausage; the lady showed me many different types of sausage. She kept babbling something, but I couldn't understand her, so I made a 'kikeriki' sound, she looked at me and burst into laughter. Then she pointed to the chicken sausage and laughingly cut me four slices. Yes, it can work without a phone!

In my apartment, I'm not alone, well, until about 15 minutes ago. Wait, I need to count, eleven mosquitoes were hanging on the wall. I thought I was seeing things; now they're stuck on the wall :-).

I'm now enjoying my dinner with cheese and Kickeriki sausage.

Best, Anke
