Palawan - Philippines 🇵🇭

We then flew from Cebu to the island of Palawan with our first stop in Puerto Princesa. When we arrived at our hostel, we realized that we were the only guests there. But then we went into town for dinner and strolled along the seafront. The next day we got a scooter early in the morning and looked at one or two bays and beaches. We ended up on a beach with almost no tourists and spent time there until sunset. After breakfast, the next day we went on to the next town, Port Barton. 4 hours on the bus this time to get to this small town. We were greeted with a heavy rain shower. Nevertheless, we both immediately fell in love with this small town. Antonia spent the afternoon on the beach while I tried out our double bed and had an afternoon nap. At sunset I also went to the beach. We spent the rest of the evening in a beach bar. The next day we went on an island hopping tour. We then went to some islands near Port Barton and went snorkeling. Our captains cooked us lunch on a beautiful beach where we spent a bit of time. The food was a treat and really good! We then went back in the pouring rain, but this time we were already wet and enjoyed the cooling off. We spent the evening making our own necklaces and then going for a drink with a few girls from the hostel. Our bus further north left quite early the next day, so we didn't stay out too long. After another 4 hours, we arrived in El Nido the next day and checked into the hostel again. We quickly realized that we would love this city. We then walked along the beach to the city center, past lots of jellyfish. We strolled a bit through the city until we ended up at a beach bar again at sunset. The next day we joined another island hopping tour. The food wasn't quite as exciting this time, but the surrounding islands were just as beautiful. This tour ended at a remote beach with a beach bar, where we stayed for 2 hours and just chatted and enjoyed the time together. Since El Nido is not so unknown for its nightlife, we naturally had to try it out too. So we got ready in the hostel and looked for a beach bar for the sunset. After that we took advantage of the 4 hours of free rum & coke in our hostel before we moved on to the city. The next day was therefore declared a leftover fat day. In the evening we got on our scooter and drove to a beach where you can fly over the sea to a small island on a flying fox. That was really quite fun, even if I didn't really trust the system. We then watched the daily sunset again in a beach bar. This evening the free rum & coke was too tempting that we couldn't resist and ended up being out until 4 in the morning. So the next leftover fat day was upon us, which we spent on Lio Beach. This actually became one of my favorite beaches in El Nido. Unfortunately, we had to return to Puerto Princesa the next day to catch our flight to Bali the next day. So almost 3 weeks in the Philippines came to an end. I would describe our time in the Philippines as very mixed. Right from the start, I was sicker than I have been in a long time. Lots of alcohol and even more fun together. Overall, I really enjoyed the Philippines and would come back to the islands that I haven't seen yet. The Philippines are definitely more civilized than other Southeast Asian countries, but therefore also more expensive than the rest of Asia. Planning is harder and more tedious and takes a lot more time. But when I say it was a brilliant time, I definitely speak for both of us! 🫶🏼
