Day 8: Halifax: 29.06.2018

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 03.07.2018

Due to the exceptionally heavy rain in the morning, we had the opportunity to visit the Immigration Museum of Halifax, which is one of the Seven Wonders of Canada. We were not disappointed and learned a lot about immigration, home, and Canadian history. Halifax has been the gateway to Canada for immigrants from the old world for over a century. The topic of identity and finding a home is currently extremely interesting for us as well, as we have received a large number of immigrants from completely different cultures into a society that has already found an identity (German). It was repeatedly made clear to us that there cannot be a single concept of home and identity, but rather cultures depend on a myriad of different aspects and categories.

At noon, the weather turned really nice and we were able to take a leisurely stroll along the harbor promenade in Halifax and explore the city a bit.

The Spare Rib Festival was really cool, although we had no appetite and just looked at the stands with incredibly good barbecue specialties. Great music, Western and Country, just the way we like it!

Conclusion: A beautiful city, no comparison to Saint John. I would come here again anytime for a vacation. Nova Scotia is worth a visit! And we haven't even seen the nature yet!
